Module 10
Well this is just the beginning of something that will no doubt be very exciting. I have so many ideas / thoughts/ possibilities running round in my head right now about possible uses of web 2.0 in the classroom.
Module 9

Social networking is certainly the students' world. I can't imagine too many teachers being happy to bring Facebook into the classroom.
Ning is an excellent and easy to use application for creating and m
anaging your own social network.

Second Life...... far too dependent on a decent internet speed. Maybe once our internet connection is back up and running but it will require a great deal of preparation for teachers to ensure it works and doesn't just become another "excuse" to use technology without students gaining some real educational benefit.
Module 8
Module 7
Module 6
Glogster is great - can definitely see educational uses for this but I could easily waste a great deal of time playing with this one. Here's my first attempt (got to admire those creative people)
Couldn't work out what tool puts a pencil style circle round an object when the mouse hovers over it. Will look in to this later.

Module 5
Podcasting!!!
Every time we look at podcasting teachers rush out to use it with their students. I think this is one of the most "abused" tools we have. Planned properly there is a definite place for podcasting and Digital Storytelling in education - its an excellent tool but lets do it properly or not at all.
I think when I work through this one with staff they will be disappointed that it doesn't actually go through creating podcasts.
Didn't know about iTunes U but will be spending many hours looking for suitable podcasts. Great to see Australian content in there too.
Module 4

I have been using Flickr and Creative Commons licensed pictures with my students for a while now. The challenge for them is when they are unable to find images (in particular) that don't suit their needs but they can readily find images (usually using Google images) that are perfect for what they are trying to create.
Unfortunately most people feel anything on the internet is for public use and let's face it when the bottom line for many of our students and their teachers is MARKS why wouldn't they use the "better" copyrighted image?
Found the above Creative Commons image on Flickr
Module 3
Google Docs.
What an outstanding application. We currently have many uses for this in our school.
Year 7 PDHPE do a Powerpoint presentation in pairs. The students are constantly forgetting the password used. It is stored in shareddata where anyone could delete it. Teachers have to mark the presentation at school or copy them to their laptops. This application would solve all these issues. HOWEVER our internet speed would be a major issue at the present time.
Module 2
Let's hope after this module is completed we don't see "death by blogging"occurring in the schools. While blogging can be an excellent tool it could also be over used.
For me the best reading on blogging was how to grow your blog from Scribd
I will be trying blogging with my IPT group early term 4.

Module 1
Gail Willingham - TAS and e-Learning Cordinator at Marist College Eastwood.
I will be working through the web 2.0 course with groups of teachers from our school. It will be interesting to see just how much staff can do with this web 2 course.
School used to be about students entering our world... now its about us entering the students' world.
